The Senate President, Ahmad Lawan has given indication that the Senate will again look into the controversial 76 oil wells which in 2012 the Supreme Court ruled that they belong to Akwa Ibom State and not Cross River following the hand over of Bakassi to Cameroon.

The frontline presidential aspirant for next year’s election spoke in Calabar on Friday afternoon when he addressed APC delegates towards their primary election next week.

He said President Muhammadu Buhari’s assent to the Petroleum Industry Bill has given leeway to further discussion on the issue.

He said there is need for amicable and political settlement of the lingering controversy.

“We will certainly revisit the controversial 76 oil wells. We will address the issue at Senate level”, he stressed.

The presidential aspirant also spoke on security, saying federal government needs to unleash total federal might against criminality, especially banditry and insurgency in the northern part of Nigeria.

According to him, the APC government has been able to recover the 16 local government areas captured by Boko Haram insurgents in Borno and Yobe States.

“The insecurity issue in the country deserves total attention.

“Federal government should unleash all the federal might to quell insurgency, banditry and even the militancy in the Niger Delta.

“In the 9th Assembly, we have given utmost attention to all military and security requests, signifying importance we attach to security.”

The Senate President said if given the APC ticket the presidential election is as good as being won because he possesses all that are required, and my major attention will be on security, education and agriculture.
