Senator Emmanuel Bwacha
By our reporter
The Coalition of Democracy Watch has descendent heavily on the All Progressives Congress (APC) Governorship Candidate in Taraba State, Senator Emmanuel Bwacha for instructing the Nigeria Police to unlawfully detain a journalist for performing his lawful duties.
The Police at the FCID Abuja on Monday July 25, 2022 had detained Mr. Ayodele Samuel on behalf of Senator Bwacha over alleged cyber-stalling, defamation of character and frustration of ambition among others.
This was contained in a statement by Comrade Joseph Egodo, Public Relations Officer of the Coalition.
Mr. Samuel publishes Taraba Truth and Facts Newspaper and is Chief Executive Office (CEO) of Rock FM, Jalingo.
The detention of Mr. Samuel shows the immaturity of the APC governorship candidate regarding processes in addressing issues.
The Coalition of Democracy Watch is appalled with Senator Bwacha’s deployment of state apparatus to intimidate Mr. Samuel and by extension the media instead of resorting to the process of going to court to seek redress.
The coalition viewed Bwacha’s action as undesirable of a senator and desire to gag the press ahead of the elections.
Also, the coalition expressed worry over the actions of Senator Bwacha and wonder if he is capable of governing Taraba State with this kind of attitude.
