Senator Lalong attends opening of Catholic Bishops’ Conference 2026 first plenary

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Lalong, has attended the opening ceremony of the First 2026 Plenary of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria, held at the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria in Abuja.
Senator Lalong joined other dignitaries at the event, including the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, who represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the opening ceremony.
In his opening address, the Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Most Rev. Ignatius Ayau Kaigama, emphasized the need for leadership anchored on the attributes of Christ and committed to the common good of humanity.
The theme of the conference is “The Common Good and Leadership in Nigeria.”
The plenary is scheduled to run through 25th February 2026.
