Senator Lalong bids farewell to late Lt. Gen. Useni at service of tributes

Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State Simon Bako Lalong was among hundreds of sympathisers who converged on the Ecumenical Christian Centre Abuja for a service of tributes in honour of late Lt. Gen. Jeremiah Useni.

Senator Lalong who also represented former President Muhammadu Buhari at the event described General Useni as a man who gave his all to the nation in his military career and civilian endeavour.

He said the late General Useni until his demise remained committed to the Nigerian project and did all he could to touch the lives of many, particularly the weak and vulnerable in society.

According to him, General Useni was man of conviction and integrity which were displayed in his duties as a soldier and politician where he attracted many to his caring heart.

In his sermon, former President, Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) Rev. Prof. Pandam Yamsat reading from Psalm 19 said the life of late General Useni was a testament to the fact that simplicity, service and humility are godly virtues that are of great gain.

He said the lessons to be learnt from his life and death is the fact that no matter how high anyone goes in the ladder of success, there is the time of death where God will demand account for all his deeds.

COCIN President Rev. Dr. Amos Mohzo in a message said the late General Useni supported the the church and its members at various levels and also gave his life to Christ before his demise.

John Cardinal Onaiyekan who led other clergy to offer prayers for the family of the late General Useni also acknowledged his good deeds and prayed that God will grant him eternal rest of forgive his sins.

He asked the family to sustain his legacies and continue to serve humanity.
