The Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Senator Simon Lalong, has continued to impact the lives of his constituents through targeted interventions aimed at economic empowerment and social well-being.
In fulfilment of earlier commitments, Senator Lalong has presented fertilizers to farmers across the Senatorial District to support dry-season farming and enhance agricultural productivity.
The symbolic presentation took place at Shendam, the Senatorial headquarters, where the Senior Legislative Aide to the Senator, Hon. Maimako Bello, represented Senator Lalong.
He explained that the initiative is part of the Senator’s broader economic empowerment strategy, with agriculture identified as a key priority for the people of Plateau South.
Hon. Maimako Bello noted that the symbolic distribution would pave the way for a larger rollout of fertilizers to all wards across the Senatorial District in the coming weeks. He emphasized that Senator Lalong has directed that the fertilizers are not for sale, but strictly to be used for dry-season farming to improve livelihoods and boost food production.
According to Hon. Bello, the distribution process will be carried out with fairness and inclusiveness to ensure that no part of the Senatorial District is left out, even as efforts are ongoing to procure additional fertilizer supplies to reach more farmers during both the dry and wet farming seasons.
Representing the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Theophilus Magwen, Head of Department, Works and Estate, Federal College of Forestry, Jos, who spoke on behalf of the Minister, said the fertilizer support was provided as part of Senator Lalong’s constituency initiatives and aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He noted that the intervention further demonstrates the Senator’s deep commitment to agricultural development and the economic advancement of his constituents.
Similarly, Senator Lalong handed over five motorised water boreholes to communities facing critical water challenges in his Senatorial District.
While presenting the boreholes on behalf of the Senator Lalong, his Senatorial Senior Legislative Aide Hon. Maimako Bello said the Senator responded to the passionate appeals of the people who have suffered lack of portable drinking water for long.
He disclosed that the water projects have already been provided in other local Government areas and he will continue to provide to other communities across the Senatorial District.
Engr Lawal Mohammed who represented the Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation said the water projects are part of the water and sanitation architecture of the nation which Senator Lalong has brought down to his people.
He praised Senator Lalong for his steadfastness and urged the beneficiaries to take care of the boreholes while ensuring that any problem is reported to the right authority to fix.
The boreholes are located in Shendam General Hospital, Shendam Mini Prison, among other communities.
In all the locations, the beneficiaries appreciated Senator Lalong and reiterated their commitment to support him all the way because he is a leader with foresight and compassion.
