Senator Lalong canvases special promotion for Police officer who emerged tops in Chinese university
Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Lalong is appealing to the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission to consider special promotion for his constituent, a serving police officer Inspector Peter Theophilus Tanko who emerged as best graduating student at the Jiangsu Police Institute China for his Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
While receiving the officer in his office at the National Assembly, Senator Lalong expressed delight that his constituent has demonstrated capacity, excellence, diligence and patriotism by representing the nation at the international stage and bringing honour to the Nigerian Police Force and Federal Republic of Nigeria.
While thanking the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission for giving awards and commendation to the officer, Senator Lalong said considering him for special promotion will be appropriate as it will boost his morale and also encourage others to do same in serving the nation.
Peter Theophilus Tanko, a dedicated officer attached to the INTERPOL Section of the Force Criminal Investigations Department (FCID), successfully completed a five-year law programme in China, under a government-sponsored scholarship in 2023.

His academic journey began when he was a sergeant and nominated for the course where he spent a one-year mandatory course in Chinese language at Nanjing Normal University, after which he proceeded to Jiangsu Police Institute for his Bachelor’s Degree in Law.
During that period, he distinguished himself throughout his academic pursuit and emerged as the best graduating student at the Institute which gave him the opportunity to present the valedictory speech on behalf of all international students during convocation.
Senator Lalong commended the officer for bringing pride to Nigeria, Plateau State, Plateau South Senatorial District and Quaan-Pan Local Government.
He promised to vigorously pursue the matter with the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission.
Earlier Inspector Tanko said he was at the Senator’s office to thank him for the role he played in his career right from the beginning to his nomination for the course during his tenure as Governor of Plateau State.
He assured him that he will continue to remain dedicated and committed to serving the nation and conducting himself in ways that bring pride to his origin.
