Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong, has warmly congratulated elder statesman and former Governor of Plateau State, Sir Fidelis Tapgun, on the occasion of his 80th birthday.

Senator Lalong described Sir Tapgun as a distinguished leader, seasoned administrator, diplomat and mentor, who has devoted his life to the service of Plateau State and Nigeria.

He recalled Sir Tapgun’s remarkable service trajectory as Governor of Plateau State, Minister of Industries, and Nigeria’s Ambassador to Kenya, noting that in all his assignments, he demonstrated humility, wisdom, fairness, and a deep passion for peace and development.

Lalong noted that beyond their shared political history as former Governors, they also share a strong cultural bond as sons of the Gamai Nation, where Sir Tapgun remains a revered figure and father to many.

He also commended Sir Tapgun for maintaining a life of simplicity, integrity, and statesmanship even after leaving public office, saying his counsel has always been sought and valued in moments of political and communal challenges.

The Senator prayed that God will continue to grant Sir Tapgun good health, strength, and peace, and that his life will remain a blessing and reference point for future leaders.
