Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State Simon Lalong congratulates newly elected leadership of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Plateau State over their election into office.

Senator Lalong rejoices with the new CAN Chairman Rev. Dr. Dunka Gomwalk and other executive members and describes their emergence as the will of God.

He prays their tenure will usher the Christian community on the Plateau and Nigeria at large into a new phase of unity, prosperity, cohesion and expansion and enablement to establish the kingdom of God on earth.

Lalong said the new CAN leadership has a role to play in galvanising the body of Christ towards focusing on spiritual and physical transformation of its members who are diverse but united through the saving grace of the Lord Jesus Christ.

According to him, the Church has a duty to not only pray for the peace and stability of the state and nation, but also a responsibility to admonish the society to live according to the principles of Jesus Christ which focus on love, compassion, truth and justice.

While praying for their success in office, the Senator encourages them to also promote inter-denominational and Inter-religious dialogue which is necessary for achieving harmony, reconciliation and tolerance.

The former Governor also admonishes the new CAN leadership to beware of issues that will seek to derail them from achieving the objectives of the association.

He assures them of his personal support and prayers as they settle down for service.
