Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Lalong has lauded President Bola Tinubu for appointing Prof. Dakas C.J. Dakas, SAN, as the Chairman, Nigerian Law Reform Commission.

Senator Lalong says the nomination of Prof Dakas is highly suitable because of his enormous experience, knowledge and versatility in the legal profession and the field of constitutional law.

According to the former Governor of Plateau State, Prof. Dakas merits such position as he has worked tirelessly over the years in contributing to the process of law making and reforms in Nigeria having served in various capacities.

He recalls that Prof. Dakas has taught law for several decades in the University and the Nigerian Law School, consulted during constitutional amendment processes, presented local and international papers on how to improve law making processes among others.

Lalong also recalls that Prof. Dakas also served as Attorney General and Commisioner for Justice in Plateau State and also had several international engagements in his profession which makes him a competent person to preside over the Nigerian Law Reform Commission at this critical time.

Senator Lalong hopes that Prof. Dakas when confirmed by the Senate, will bring his rich experience to bear in pushing critical reforms in updating various laws that will enhance Nigeria’s democracy and good governance.

He looks forward to working closely with him to ensure that he succeeds in this national assignment.
