Senator Lalong mourns Plateau CAN Chairman, Rev. Fr. Lubo

By Anthony Maliki, Abuja

A former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Lalong says he received with devastation and grief the death of Plateau CAN Chairman Rev. Fr. Dr. Polycarp Lubo who passed to glory on Sunday 15th June 2025.

Lalong says the Catholic Church, Plateau State and Nigeria has lost a leader, compassionate servant and man of peace whose life was devoted to impacting the society.

He says Rev. Fr. Lubo has not only carried out his priestly duties with excellence, commitment and passion, but also engaged in humanitarian activities reaching out to the hurting in Plateau State and beyond.

Lalong says the late Rev. Father Lubo maintained his devotion to justice, peace, human rights and unity using the pulpit and also ceasing every opportunity to advocate for a better society.

According to the former Governor, Rev. Fr. Lubo used his position as Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria in Plateau State to work for the promotion of the gospel of Christ as well as welfare of Christians in the State.

He recalled that he enjoyed the cooperation of the late CAN Chairman during his tenure as Governor where Lubo worked tirelessly with other religious leaders to push for peace, harmony, reconciliation and dialogue among people of various religious beliefs.

Senator Lalong also acknowledges the role played by the deceased in the engagements of Northern CAN where he served in the Executive.

He also sends his deep condolences to the Catholic Archbishop of Jos, Most. Rev. Dr. Mathew Ishaya Audu as well as
parishioners of St. Williams Parish, Zawan where he was Parish priest and Dean.
