A former Governor of Plateau State and Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District, Simon Lalong, is deeply devastated by the tragic accident that claimed the lives of students of the University of Jos.

Senator Lalong described the incident as heart-breaking, painful, and a monumental loss not only to the families of the victims, but also to the University community, Plateau State, and the nation at large.

He said the death of the students who include NAPSS President and other union leaders in their prime, full of dreams and aspirations leaves a wound that will take a long time to heal.

He sympathised with the families of the deceased and prayed for God to grant them comfort and strength during this difficult moment.

He also wished those who sustained injuries a speedy and complete recovery.

Senator Lalong extended his condolences to the Vice-Chancellor, management, staff, and students of the University of Jos, urging them to remain strong and united in grief.

He called on relevant authorities to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident to prevent a recurrence.

He assured that he stands with the families and the entire University of Jos community in mourning these precious young lives.
