Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District and former Governor of Plateau State, Rt. Hon. Simon Lalong, has congratulated Prof. Garba Sharubutu on his appointment as the Chairman of the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF), Nigeria.
The Senator described Prof. Sharubutu’s elevation to the distinguished continental role as a testament to his exceptional competence, professional integrity, and long-standing commitment to agricultural transformation not only in Nigeria but across Africa.
Senator Lalong recalled that Prof. Sharubutu, who previously served as the Executive Secretary of the Agricultural Research Council of Nigeria (ARCN), has consistently demonstrated visionary leadership and academic excellence both as a seasoned expert in infectious diseases and during his tenure as Provost of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology.
He noted that Prof. Sharubutu’s appointment into the Board of AATF in 2023, and now his elevation as Chairman of the Nigeria office, clearly reflects the trust and confidence reposed in his ability to guide scientific innovation, advance technology adoption, and strengthen food security frameworks across African agricultural systems.
The Senator further stated that beyond their shared professional and leadership circles, he and Prof. Sharubutu share a personal bond as old students of the same secondary school, GSS Shendam, and as respected sons of Plateau South, have continued to work closely in contributing the development of Plateau South Senatorial District, Plateau state, and the nation at large.
He prayed for God’s continued guidance, wisdom, and strength for Prof. Sharubutu as he assumes this important leadership responsibility.
