Senator Lalong sponsors bill to create entrepreneural centres for agriculture science graduates

A few weeks after he sponsored a Bill for the Creation of National Council of Traditional Rulers, Senator representing Plateau South Senatorial District Simon Bako Lalong has sponsored another bill which was passed first reading at the floor of the Senate today (17th October 2024).

The Bill entitled ENTREPRENEURAL CENTRES FOR AGRICULTURAL SCIENCE GRADUATES (ESTABLISHMENT) BILL 2024, (574) was read by Clerk of the Senate during plenary session presided by Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin.

The Bill when passed is expected to address the issue of unemployment and jobs using the agricultural sector where rather than roam around to look for non-existent jobs, graduates of Nigerian Agricultural Institutions and Colleges will go ahead to create opportunities in line with their training and research.

Senator Lalong who is the Chairman Senate Committee on Agricultural Institutions and Colleges seeks to ensure that all research findings and experiments generated by Agricultural Institutions and Colleges are turned into entrepreneurship opportunities.

He believes that the agricultural sector has the capacity to create entrepreneurs with sufficient knowledge and skills to harness Nigeria’s vast agricultural potentials and diversity the economy.

Besides, the Senator has continued to emphasise that developing the agricultural sector through cutting edge research and adoption of modern farming methods remains the fastest way to get Nigerians out of unemployment.

Senator Lalong is optimistic that the Bill will receive wide acceptance and passage from his colleagues after due diligence and eventually be assented to by President Bola Tinubu.
