The new Speaker, John Kizito Bonzena

The Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, Professor Joseph Albasu Kunini has resigned today.
The resignation of the Speaker was contained in a letter to the members of the Assembly presented by the Deputy Speaker, Hamman’adama Ibnu Abdullahi who presided over the sitting.
No specific reason was given by the Speaker for his resignation.
Meanwhile a season legislator the member representing Zing State Constituency John Kizito Bonzena has been elected as the the new Speaker of the Assembly.
However, the resignation of Professor Joseph Albasu Kunini may not be unconnected with the results of the Governorship primary election of the People’s Democratic Party PDP in Taraba State on which the Speaker was an aspirant which resulted into litigations involving him that is now in the Supreme Court.
