Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir presents staff of office to the 12th Emir of Katagum, Umar Farouk II, right

Traditional rulers in Bauchi state have been warned to steer clear of partisan politics and be focused on the mentainance of peace and peaceful co-existence among the people of their domains.
The warning was handed by the Governor of Bauchi State, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir as he presented Staff of Office to the 12th Emir of Katagum, Alhaji Umar Faruq on Saturday at Azare, headquarters of Emirate.
The Governor said that they should rather exhibit leadership qualities that would attract more respect to the their respective Emirates.
Speaking to the new Emir, Bala Mohammed charged him to use his wealth of experience as a retired Federal Permanent Secretary in surmounting all the challenges of the new office.
While presenting the Staff of Office at the coronation ceremony, the Governor emphasized the need for the Emir to not only emulate the good quality leadership of his late father, Alhaji Muhammad Kabir but contribute in introducing more policies aimed at ensuring the wellbeing of his subjects.
Bala Mohammed who acknowledged the contributions of traditional institutions in maintainace of law and order, noted that the ongoing reconstruction and rehabilitation of palaces of District Heads embarked upon by his administration would add value to all the six emirate Councils across the state.
Speaking after receiving the Staff of Office, the 12th Emir of Katagum, Umar Faruq appreciated Governor Bala Mohammed for the honor done to the entire Emirate and himself.
He then pledged to work with members of the State Council of Emirs in complementing the Government’s efforts towards improving quality of lives of the people.
The occasion was witnessed by the presidential candidate of the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal of Sokoto State as Chairman, saw the presence of Gombe State Governor, Inuwa Yahaya, Minister of Education Adamu Adamu, Minster State, Ministry of industry, trade and investment, Maryam Yelwaji Katagum, three former Governors of the State, Ahmed Adamu Muazu, Isa Yuguda and Muhammad Abdullahi Abubakar.
Also in attendance were Emirs and traditional title holders as well as Head of Agencies and parastals from all parts of the country.
