The remains of an Assistant Controller-General of Prisons, Nanvyat Wuyep Gwali (rtd) murdered by gunmen has been laid to rest on Friday in his home town, Simchor in Kanam Local Government Area of Plateau State.
He was killed on his farmstead on August 10 along Keffi-Nasarawa road in Nasarawa State last month.
The Nigeria Prisons Service (NPS) spokesman, Francis Enobore said in a statement made available to Apex News said that the body of Gwali arrived at his village at about 11:45hrs on Friday amidst uncontrollable wailing.
In a condolence message to the deceased’s family, the Controller-General of Prisons, Ja’afaru Ahmed noted that late Gwali epitomised a gentleman officer who was astute and courageous with a remarkable sense of commitment to the service of his father land throughout his career.
Late Gwali, who was born on April 5, 1956 and enlisted into the Nigerian Prisons Service in November, 1989 on transfer of service as a Superintendent of Prisons.
He rose to the rank of Assistant Controller-General of Prisons before his retirement in April 2016.
