Solar Energy Society, Nigeria Defence Academy confers fellowship to Hon. Umbugadu

Solar Energy Society of Nigeria (SESN) in collaboration with the Nigerian Defence Academy, (NDA) Kaduna has conferred fellowship to Right Honourable David Emmanuel Umbugadu at NDA permanent site, in Kaduna.
The event was organized by the Nigeria Solar Energy Forum 2024 and held at NDA auditorium chaired by the Commandant of NDA, Major General John Ochai and many dignitaries.
The citation of Honourable David Emmanuel Umbugadu was read, thus: “Standing before us is Right Honourable David Emmanuel Umbugadu, who is being officially confirmed as Fellow of Solar Energy Society of Nigeria
“As a politician, his primary concern is his constituency is the poor, widows, orphans and physically challenged. He is quiet, charming and unassuming.
He is referred to as ‘State’s favourite son”. Davematics as he is popularly known is born in Kakuri, Kaduna on January 10, 1978.
“He attended LEA Primary School, Kakuri Kaduna and Government College, Keffi for his secondary education. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from University of His, Masters and PhD from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.
“He learnt to be independent from his early age. This built in him the willpower to help others. At the University, he helped in paying school fees for friends and classmates who were finding it difficult to pay it.
“He built a pedestrian bridge to ease the plight of fellow students who had difficulty assessing lecture areas from there hostels. He gained accolades from the Students’ Union Government and the school authority for his philanthropic gifts.
“He achieved all these while using his God given talents and acquired skills to make shows, design greeting cards, paint art and produce gift items.
“His selflessness and contribution to society while undertaking National Youth Service Corps program earned him the best NYSC member batch “B” 2002 in Rivers State. And set him on for greater challenges.
“Umbugadu took the World by storm when he ventured into politics and emerged as the youngest paramilitarian in the 7th National Assembly and served 2 terms 2011 to 2019 representing the good people of Akwanga, Wamba and Nasarawa Eggon federal constituency.
“He is hailed by the National Health Insurance Scheme, as the biggest individual sponsor with over 12,000 rural enrollees
“In March 2024, he launched the continuation of the program to enroll additional beneficiaries, 1,000 from each local government in the state.
“He has the enviable record of introducing the private sponsorship of NHIS to his people. He left an indelible mark as the co-chair of The Global TB Causus, Africa 2019.
“David Umbugadu championed the “Water For All Project” in 2019 to were he singlehandedly drilled and install 1,500 boreholes in rural communities across the state, including mosques, churches and public squares.
“He has touched the lives of thousands of families, widows, orphans and less privileged through his philanthropic schemes including scholarship support schemes and empowerment programs and food interventions.
“Right Honourable David Emmanuel Umbugadu is married to Miranda Asheazi Umbugadu and is blessed with 5 children.”
The event was attended by many people from different backgrounds.
