Hon Mukhtar Aliyu Betara, member representing Biu/Bayo/Shani/ Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency of Borno State

A major political pressure group within the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) Support Groups from Northern Nigeria, has endorsed Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara member representing Biu/Bayo/Shani/ Kwaya Kusar Federal Constituency Constituency of Borno state in the 10th House of Representatives as the Speaker of House.
National Coordinator of the Group, Hon Murtala Garba, made the disclosure at a Press conference held on Monday stressing that leadership of over 38 APC Support Groups from Northern Nigeria have appealed for a Speakership position from the North-East and endorsed Hon. Muktar Aliyu Betara for the position.
According to him, “It shows that the amount of love in our hearts for this great personality is dominant. Hon. Aliyu Betara, is a leader and an elder, Organizer and Mobilizer, he has the encyclopedic knowledge of the House and the country at large.”
He added that, “It is a statement of part that the composition of 10th National Assembly, indeed, represents a robust gathering of lawmakers in their prime and positioned to ensure quality representation in the 10th Assembly.”
“Therefore, it beholds the leadership of the APC the majority party in the house ensure that it changes reflect the urgency of now,” he said
Murtala Garba also said that the coalition of Northern APC Support Groups has appealed to the party to zone the Speakership to the North, in particular North-East, in order to balance the zoning structure.
“We, the coalition of APC Support Group gathered today to endorse Betara, as Speaker of the 10th House of Representatives which our reasons are as follows: Because Betara has vast knowledge in legislative appearances and leadership. As a Chairman on Appropriations, succeeded in having the June-June budget cycle changed to a repairable January to December, for a more effective budget implementation,” he said.
He also said that, “Provision of job opportunity for 4,500 beneficiaries across the nation and relate with people in respect of religion, ethnicity or tribe. Nigeria is indeed lucky to have person like Betara.”
The National Coordinator added that Mukhtar Betara has been lauded for his critical decision making and crises management skills in the house and as a young man with talent whose youth are the backbones of any societal development.
He stressed that Nigeria need a team player like Mukhtar Betara as the Speaker of the 10th House, to build on the achievement of Femi Gbajabiamila, the Speaker of 9th Assembly.
According to him, “We are confidence that Betara have the ability to carry all lawmakers along in spite of political divide, because a lot of new members will be coming into the house. Therefore Betara will be a perfect fit as the country’s next speaker because of his long legislative experience.”
He stressed that, “We have studied the lawmaker closely by monitoring his progression and development in the house for more than two decade.”
Murtala Garba described Betara as one of the tested unapologetic believer in the grand ideas of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
