SSANU President, Gov. Kefas, others laud Taraba chairperson, Ajibauka over leadership quality

Taraba State Chairman of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Comrade Bitrus Joseph Ajibauka has been applauded for leadership quality.

The National President of SSANU Comrade Mohammed Haruna Ibrahim, Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas and leaders of ASUU, NASU, and NAAT made the commendation during the 11th Regular Zonal Executive Council Meeting (ZEC) of the association held at Taraba State University (TSU), Jalingo.

In his address, the national president charged the state leadership of SSANU against compromise, emphasizing the need for unity and cooperation among other sister unions in the university.

According to him, the leadership of SSANU in Taraba state has left up to expectations especially during the recent face-off with the state government while ensuring the right thing was done despite several intimidations against members.

Comrade Moha Ibrahim also said SSANU like other unions cannot be intimidated in any form as according to him the association was among four components that formed the establishment of university after Vice Chancellor, Registrar, Bursar, and None Teaching Staff respectively which SSANU was part of.

He pointed out that no union or association has monopoly over others in the university, revealing that they are all component engine-rooms that make institutions function effectively.

The National President commended Governor Kefas for effectively resolving the face-off with the association and as well the supports received from other sister affiliate unions like ASSU, NASU, NAAT and above all TSU management team led by its vice chancellor, prof. Sunday Paul Bako and entire members of SSANU for effective role played during the time of challenges.

In its remarks, the state governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas has lauded the doggedness of the state chairperson, Comrade Bitrus Joseph AJibauka and his team that led to the amicable resolution of the recent face-off with the government.

Governor Kefas represented by Deputy Chief of Staff Government House Jalingo, Emmanuel Lawson noted that government oriented policy on education has led to the reduction of tuition fees of students in tertiary institutions to 50% while primary and secondary schools enjoy free education in the state.

He also said the welfare of teachers of all categories was not left out in his government, as his administration is equal to task apart from numerous interventions currently going-on in all spheres of the education sector.

Kefas urged SSANU to continue to be loyal, hardworking and justify government good intentions as more goodies are underway.

In his remarks, national vice president/chairperson, Northeast Zone, Comrade Alhaji Audu Isa appealed to the university management and Taraba state government to complete payment of unsettled salaries and allowances of members.

Other issues raised according to comrade Isa include non-implementation of pension schemes, review of conditions of service and guidelines for appointments and promotions respectively.

Meanwhile, in his address, State Chairperson of SSANU, Comrade Bitrus Joseph Ajibauka has expressed appreciation to Governor Agbu Kefas for approval of part-payment of backlogs of salaries/allowances and full implementation of the N70,000 new national minimum wage for 2024 for Taraba state university.

Comrade Ajibauka also lauded the Zonal Vice President, Comrade Alhaji Audu Isa, and Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sunday Bako and the Management Team for support in that direction.
