Stakeholders seek application of behavior change in fighting against corruption

Stakeholders have resolved to adopt and inculcate a behavior change approach among citizens to promote transparency and accountability in the country’s public and private sectors.
They made the commitment during a special session on ‘Promoting Accountability and Anti-Corruption Using Behavioural Change Approach Project 2021-2024’ in Kafanchan, Jemaa Local Government Headquarters in Kaduna state.
The program was organized by Interfaith Mediation Center and funded by Catherine MacArthur Foundation with support from Mambayya House, Aminu Kano Center for Democratic Studies, Bayero University, Kano.
Speaking at the program, Reverend Bitrus Dangiwa, urged the participants to stop living with negative notion that fight against corruption cannot be won as widely propagated by the corrupts people in the society.
“let’s everyone of us start thinking on how he can bring a change by fighting the corruption at his own level and jurisdiction; family level, school level, offices and the larger community at all level.

“You have to start thinking differently about interventions that can work for accountability and transparency.” He said
He also tressed the need for traditional rulers, religious leaders Students and Civil Society Organizations to collaborate to tackle rising cases of corruption across the country.
Also speaking, Mr. Samson Auta from Interfaith Mediation Center, Kaduna said the meeting was organized to enlighten public and private stakeholders on the different dimensions of using behavioral change
He called on traditional, religious leaders and other community based and civil society organizations to use their influence to reduce corruption at the grassroots.
Religious and traditional leaders, representatives from students and Civil Society Organizations are all in attendance.
