His Holiness Olumba Olumba Obu, the spiritual leader of Brotherhood of the Cross and Star has again emphasised that the continual eating of meat and fish as well as taking hard drugs and drinking alcohol are very injurious to health and dampen spiritual life.

He reiterated the emphasis at the world headquarters of his spiritual organization in Calabar when he addressed large assembly of vegetarians, vegans and other faithful and guests during the end of year festivities.

According to him, these things are the causes of assorted problems plaguing the human family but are what man relishes most.

Olumba Obu who himself survives mostly on fruits, according to his adherents, claimed that those that are vegetarians are stronger, younger, healthier and more immune than the people who eat animal products, take assorted drinks and drugs.

He also remarked about the handlings of the meat and fish in local markets, saying they are exposed to innumerable germs.

“In the begining God never directed that man should eat his fellow animals or other kinds of foods except seeds, grains, fruits and vegetables. These animals are your brothers.

“But man has decided to be wiser than God. Can we not see how assorted ailments, some defying medical sciences, have destroyed man?

“God is not happy that man has flouted His injunctions. When you eat fish and meat, you immediately consume whatever defects were in those animals.

“Fishes, for instance, eat corpses while at sea, if a person who was sick of certain types of ailments and spit into the waters, the fishes would swallow them and latee man would consume them. Hasn’t he consumed the ailments. Tell me how man will be healthy?”

He said drinks are chemicals which have ways of eating up the internal organs, and are also influenced by certain spirits.

According to him, those that have reduced or completely refrained from intakes of these products, can become more discerning and immune from attacks.

He encouraged animal rights campaigners to mount greater pressures on governments to institute laws against cruelty to and killings of animals for foods.

“These animals continually report to God about the cruelty they suffer in the hands of man”, he disclosed.
