Students of Taraba State University, Jalingo set bonfire in protest against non payment of salaries for months to lecturers and other staff

Taraba State has continued to be an embarrassment in the comity of states and its people because of the government’s insensitivity to the welfare of those who provide critical services.
The remark is coming on the backdrop of a protest by students of the Taraba State University, Jalingo over the non-payment of salary for ten months to lecturers and other staff who have decided to embark on on another strike.
The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Hon. Danladi Baido, in a statement by his media aide, Anthony Maliki, described the attitude of the Taraba State Government at neglecting the plight of the lecturers and staff as very disgusting.
Students of the university took over the streets of the institution throwing stones, making bonfires and bringing down billboards and posters of candidates of the governing Peoples Democratic Party.
Hon. Baido pointed out that, it is extremely annoying for the outgoing government in the state to so neglect the education sector which is the core foundation of youth and societal development.

According to him, if elected Governor of Taraba State this year, his administration will give education priority as the future of the state lays in quality education.
Apart from university workers, the governorship candidate expressed dismay over the continuous suffering of civil servants over prolonged non-payment of salaries, pension and gratuities to retirees.
As such, he called on the people of the state to secure their Permanent Voter Card and vote for the SDP.
He urged voters not look at other parties that are plagued with crisis as the SDP would provide open and inclusive governance.
