Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Mohammed has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for ensuring that the judiciary actually acted independently as an arm of democratic process.

The Governor who addressed his PDP members and entire population of the state on Saturday after returning from Abuja where he secured affirmation of the Supreme Court as the duly elected Governor of Bauchi State stated that with the landmark judgements delivered on Friday, he admires and respects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for being a true democratic, federalist and advocate of the rule of law.

Bala Mohammed who said that he had sleepless and long nights for Seven days before Friday when judgement was delivered, alleged that a clique of former leaders of the state teamed up with a few political heavyweights and attempted to paint him black in the eyes of the Federal leaders.

He added that they tried very hard to create a disaffection between the President, Bola Ahmed Tinubu “who loves what we are doing in the state,” in the wake of the legal battle.

According to him, “They wanted to create enmity between my friend, the Vice President, Kashim Shettima and myself, telling him that I am a problem, but up there, they are wise people, they know that I am not a problem.”

Bala Mohammed stresses that, “President Bola Tinubu is a beacon of the rule of law worthy of emulation by all. He has demonstrated it by allowing the judiciary as an arm of democracy to operate independently.”

The governor added that, “no amount of mischief will bring us down. We will continue to work for our people and we will not allow anyone with ulterior motive to have impact on people of the state.”

Bala Mohammed Mohammed said he will do more to ensure that citizens of Bauchi live a happy life through meaningful projects and empowerment.

The governor said the outcome of the series of court case right from the tribunal up to the Supreme Court has made him have more confidence in the judiciary saying, “I am grateful to the judiciary.”

According to him, “I know people are hungry and angry, but the situation is different in Bauchi because of the little we are doing to improve the condition of our people.”

Speaking earlier, State Chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hamza Koshe Akuyam, warned stakeholders from all backgrounds to shun insulting leaders, adding that anyone who becomes a leader must be supported and respected.

He advised the Governor to exercise power with restraint and accord human dignity to accommodate all categories of people.

Koshe Akuyam who spoke in Hausa swore that henceforth, no stranger in whatever guise will be allowed to rule the state again from the experience of the past.

According to him, “We have had bad experiences in the past when those who did not know us governed us, we suffered in their hands. Now that we have retrieved power from them, it will never go back to them.”

The PDP Chairman thanked members of the party for sticking to the struggle while the case lasted up to the Supreme Court which delivered judgement on Friday bringing an end to the litigation process.
