Plateau State Governor, Lalong

By Raymond Gukas, Jos
As the Plateau State Governor and Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum,  Simon Lalong says the affirmation of his victory at the Supreme Court Monday was a confirmation that his mandate at the polls was not in doubt, the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP)is calling for calm.
The Governor while reacting to the supreme court judgement in a statement by Simon Makut,  director of press affairs said “I again dedicate this victory to God and the people of Plateau State irrespective of their political, social, religious or ethnic affiliations.
He said that “the time now is for governance and actualisation of our next level agenda encapsulated in our 3 point vision of peace, security and good governance; Infrastructural development and sustainable economic rebirth”.
The Governor again repeated his call to the opposition to join hands with him in developing the State and pursuing projects and programs that will promote lasting legacies for the people.
Meanwhile, Plateau State  Peoples Democratic party, (PDP) governorship candidate who lost his appeal, Senator Jeremiah Useni disclosed that he entered the race so as to free the state “from the new form of retrogressive politics and people-alianating governance that we have come to witnesss in recent years in our dear state.”
He stated this in a statement shortly after the Supreme Court dismissed his application against the APC, Governor Lalong.
He then appealed to stakeholders, officials and supporters of the PDP, and the good people of the State to remain calm, peaceful, and to decline to react to any form of provocation from any quarters.
“Let us then stand together and keep the party going. Do not trade blames. It won’t lead to any good destination. It is also no time for mourning. Afterall, we all fought gallantly together. Our best is yet to come.
“So, let us face the future with pride, confidence and dignity. As long as God gives us breath, we must keep as our enduring agenda the vision for the total security, unity and prosperity of the people  as our state”, he stressed.
