Governor Darius Ishaku

Taraba State government has vehemently reacted to the outburst by the member representing Wukari-Ibi Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Danji Usman Shiddi accusing Governor of Taraba State Architect Darius lshaku for torture, molestation and arrest of his Senatorial Campaign Director Sama’ila Yakubu AKA Young JP recently in Takum the home town of the Governor.
In a press briefing in Jalingo, Taraba State Commissioner of Information and Re-orientation, Lois Emmanuel said the press conference by Danji Shiddi who is also the APC Senatorial Candidate for Southern Taraba where he alleged that democracy was collapsing in Taraba State was a total fallacy.
The Commissioner maintained that in his failed attempt to exaggerate claim of a collapsing democracy, Danji Shiddi tried vainly to link the Governor to the arrest of Yakubu who according to her is a Takum-based notorious political thug under his payroll.
She said that Yakubu was arrested by the Police in Takum for leading yet another round of violent disruption of peace on a day of the foundation laying ceremony of a private university in Takum.
Lois Emmanuel stressed that Young JP and his band of gangsters did not only harass innocent residents but also involved in burning of tyres and destruction of movable properties like vehicles, motorbikes and campaign billboards of rival political parties outside the APC on the said day.
She noted that even before the youth in Takum start to engage them and checkmate the negative trend by the hoodlums the entire scenario has already degenerated into chaos which drew the attention of the police who intervened in order to save the ugly situation.
The Commissioner stated that for Danji Shiddi to stand at the National Assembly press gallery and raised a false alarm over the arrest of a notorious political thug who has constituted himself into an out-law and causing pains on daily existence of the people of Takum and environs beats the imagination of any discerning mind.
Lois Emmanuel emphasized that for the law maker to have even attempted towing that path of infamy by accusing Governor Darius Ishaku of culpability shows clearly his desperate desire to shield a potentially dangerous criminal who is poised to re- enact or even surpass the inglorious bloody regime of late Terwase Akwaza Aka Gana within the Taraba-Benue axis in the recent past.
She posited that Danji SS, as he enjoys being addressed, has by this singular act exposed his deep seated desperation for power and disdain for the rule of law even as he always lay claim to some levels of security expertise which equally laid bare his unrepentant romance with agents of violence.
The Commissioner recalled that sometime in 2021, specifically in April Yakubu, along with his gun-wielding gang members attacked Messrs Baba Sampati and late Joseph Fete known as Ogbe who were on lawful duty of revenue collection in Takum where they intercepted a trailer truck carrying Madrid logs without paying the necessary fees.
She explained that while Baba Sampati was lucky to be alive today, Joseph Fete could not survive the attack as he developed an unusual sickness as a result of the poisonous daggers used on him and died early this year which led to the arrest of the attackers by the police in Jalingo.
Lois Emmanuel stated that Samaila and co were then charged to court via a case file No. TRST/8C/2021 in a case of the State VS Samaila Yakubu and 11 others before justice D.N. Buba of the High court Number 7 in Jalingo on the 22/04/2021 arraigned on a six count charges of Criminal Conspiracy, Mischief, Voluntarily Causing Hurt, Forgery, Inciting Disturbances and Assault.
The Commissioner stated that Danji Shiddi and his boss in Abuja facilitated the bail of Samaila and gangs and since then they have been evading the Court.
She called on the public to disregard the false alarm raised by the National Assembly Member as Governor Darius Ishaku remained committed to sustain democratic tenets in Taraba State.
