Taraba Government reiterates commitments to support Nigeria Police

Taraba state government has re-iterated its commitments to give all necessary assistance required by the Nigeria Police to enable it succeed in their lawful duties.

The state Governor, Arch. Darius Dickson Ishaku who stated this while declaring opened a five-day training/workshop for officers of the Nigeria Police, Taraba State Comman, in Jalingo assured the uniform personnel of the state government desire to support them at all times.

“Theme of the workshop, public order policing/crowd management and force management protection” according to the force command was in conjunction with the Nigeria Police Trust Fund as facilitator was drawn by Dartem Resources Limited.

Gov. Darius, represented at the programme by Permanent Secretary, Home affairs and Special Services, office of the secretary to the state Government (SSG) Dr. Ahmed Kara noted that the training workshop came at no better time than now particularly as the nation will soon be witnessing another transition to a new government. “I therefore urge you to accord this training workshop all the desire attention aimed at enabling you to build capacity and enhance your represent status, so that at the end of this training, you return to your official duties, it will be high moral to converting emerging security challenges in Taraba state and the nation as a whole”.

He applauded the management of Nigeria Police Trust Fund and the consultant Dartem Resources Limited for choosing Taraba state to organize this all important training workshop.

Speaking during the workshop, representative of Nigeria Police Trust Fund (NPTF) ASP Mohammed Suleiman Wada said the essence of the programme was to develop the Nigeria Police Personnels  and acquaint them with knowledge on how to prevent law and order as well as protect lives and property of citizens.

He further disclosed that the exercise was meant to enable them conduct their lawful duties, prevent crime and discharge duties according to Human Rights specification.

ASP Wada therefore charged officers and personnels to take the training exercise seriously and avoid acts capable of jeopardizing the image of the force.

Among few several paper presentations which dwells on professionalism are crowd management techniques and the practical approach in enforcing public order and security by DSP Adams Bosse (rtd), Global Best practices enforce management in Nigeria Police by associate Professor Julius Ngomba and public order act (law) (democracy, freedom of association and peaceful assembly) by Victor Onyekachi Augustine among others.

Participants who spoke with new national star newspaper shortly after the programme are DSP John Peter, ASP Daniel Shedrack and Inspector Patrick Danbaba respectively thanked President Muhammadu Buhari, Inspector General of police (IGP) Usman Baba, Nigeria Police Trust Fund, Taraba State Commissioner of Police and the consultant Dartem Resources Limited for organizing the training workshop.

According to them, the training exercise has provided them an insight particularly on the Global policies in the Police Force and exposed their knowledge during the period under review.

In a closing remarks, the Chief facilitator Dartem Resources Limited Victor Onyekachi Augustine urged the personnels to deploy the knowledge acquired at the training workshop into professionalism while he encouraged them to remain resolute in their respective duties.
