Taraba Governor, Darius Ishaku assures of supporting community health programme

The Taraba State Governor, Darius Dickson Ishaku says administration will support the full Implementation of the Community Health Influencers, promoters and Services programme in the state.

The Governor gave the assurance when the National Officials of the Primary Health Care Development Agency, UNICEF and the World Health Organization paid him an advocacy visit at the Government House, Jalingo.

Governor Darius Ishaku who was represented by the State Deputy Governor, Haruna assured them that the Community Health Influencers, promoters, and Services, CHIPS will be captured in the next year’s budget with a view to implementing it the in Taraba State.

Governor Ishaku told the visitors, that the Taraba State Government has been supportive to the health sector since the inception of the present administration through the prompt Payment of counterpart funding.

He used the forum to appreciate the efforts of the donor agencies and other development partners for contributing immensely to the enhancement of the Health Care System in the State.

Briefing the Governor, the leader of the delegation, Professor Clara Ladi Ejembi,who is also, principal Adviser, CHIPS Programme of the National primary Health Care Development Agency said they were at the Government House to create awareness on the programme and to ensure that rural Communities and underserved areas have access to basic health Care Services, especially those related to maternal and child Health.

Professor Clara Ladi Ejembi, further explained that the CHIPS programme was launched by the Federal Government in twenty eighteen to address the problems of high rate of maternal and child deaths in the country.

In an address of welcome, the Taraba State Commissioner for Health, Dr Innocent Vakkai said the advocacy visit is aimed at reversing the health indices of the State as regards high rates of infant mortality, maternal mortality and other morbidity of common diseases.
