Taraba Governor Kefas appeals for more military support to effectively fight increasing insecurity

Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has appealed for more support from the Army to effectively fight the growing rate of insecurity in the state.
The Governor made the appeal when he visited the Chief of Army Lt. Gen. Taoreed Lagbsja mid-week at the Army Headquarters Abuja.
He said the security challenges facing Taraba State were unique considering its locations as it shares border with six states of Adamawa, Benue, Plateau, Nasarawa, Gombe and Bauchi as well as the Republic of Cameroon.
Governor Kefas said the Government intends to priorities and dominate the vast ungoverned spaces within its borders to ensure the safety and well being of the citizens.
He pledged the readiness of the Govermment to provide more support for the Army considering the limited presence of the Navy and the Airforce in Taraba State.
Kefas noted that the Government was also willing to assist in the take-off of new batalion with the provision of land and infrastructure and commended the efforts of the Army in stabilising the State.
Responding, the Chief of Army Staff Lt. Gen. Lagbaja assured of speedy take-off of the newly established 144 Battalion in Wukari to tackle insecurity in Taraba State.
Lagbaja said the move was part of the efforts to enhance the operations and activities of the 6 Brigade of the Army and expand the frontiers of peace and stability in the State promising to provide more combat enablers for the Brigade and the Garrison to enhance their operation and activities.
“I will ensure the quick take-off of 114 Batalion in Taraba State so that we have more troops on ground the Unit and formations Will be working with the State Govermment especially on applying non-Kinetic measures that have already been adopted by the Governor to ensure that we have peace in Taraba State”.
The Chief of Army Staff commended the Governor for his readiness to provide more support for the 6 Brigade to ensure that peace and stability reign in Taraba State.
“The Army Headquarters would work to ensure that whatever was provided worked optimally for the overall peace of the State, Taraba can be a springboard to facilitate peace and security in the North East of Nigeria”.
He pledged the readiness, willingness and availability of the Army to work with the State to further entrench peace and stability in Taraba State and other parts of the North East.
