Taraba Governor Kefas orders thorough investigation into death of teacher

Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas has ordered a thorough investigation into the circumstances leading to the death of a teacher in Government Day Secondary School, Jalingo.

A statement by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Digital Communications Emmanuel Bello says Governor Kefas stated this while condoling teachers over death of their colleague Mr. Bassey Sardauna Nkuphee.

The Special Adviser adds that
“Governor Agbu Kefas has sent heartfelt condolences to the family and colleagues of Mr Bassey Sarduana Nkuphee who was said to have been stabbed by an agriefed student in Jalingo who was earlier scolded by the teacher”.

Governor Kefas strongly condemned the action of the student and said a thorough investigation would be carried out.

He decried the use of drugs by some youths and prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased.

He said no teacher supposed to loose his live while imparting knowledge, describing the occurrence as highly regrettable.

TheGovernor maintained that the free education policy of his Government is aimed at securing the future of the youths noting that part of the free education policy is to ensure the welfare and well-being of both the teachers and students emphasizing the need to secure schools and make them safe for learning.

He described the stabbing incidence of the teacher as an indication of the rot in the society and a wake up call for parents and all stakeholders to intensify their supervisory roles of their wards at home and in the schools.

Governor Kefas pledged his commitments to ensuring that the educational system is thoroughly purged of all that have been bedeviling it.
