Taraba Governor Kefas pledges fixing educational inadequacies, warns against saboteurs of his free, compulsory education policy

Governor of Taraba State Dr. Agbu Kefas has promised to fix all inadequacies in the education sector and again warned against his free and compulsory education policy in government primary and secondary schools and reduction of fees in all Tertiary institutions.

The Governor stated this in Government House, Jalingo while receiving the Implementation Committee of the proposed Greenland University, Jalingo and a delegation of the National Universities Commission, (NUC) Abuja who paid him a courtesy visit.

Represented by the Chief of Staff Government House, Dr Jeji Williams, the Governor reiterated the commitment of his administration to the success of the free and compulsory education policy to make it a role model.

He warned stakeholders in educational institutions in the State to guard against sabotage of government’s good intentions on the policy and reduction of tuition fees in higher institutions, adding that the Government will not condone any act of extortion that will undermine the good intention of the Government.

The Governor assured that there is going to be a revolution in the education sector and urged the people to be patient as it is going to be a gradual process and pledged that all needed facilities and structures will be fixed.

Governor Kefas commended the establishment of the proposed Greenland University, Jalingo and urged the initiators to create room for the youths in the state in all their activities.

Kefas promised that in no distant time Taraba State will overcome issues of infrastructural decay, shortage of facilities and instructional materials facing the Education Sector to make the free and Compulsary Education Policy of the Govermment standard.

Chairman of the Implementation Committee of the proposed Greenland University, Jalingo Prof Mustapha Baba Ibi said they were in the Government House to intimate the Governor of the visit of the delegation from the National University Commission NUC who were on an assessment tour of the proposed Greenland University, Jalingo.

He said the institution is going to complement the Free and Compulsory Education Policy of the State Government by providing University education for the youths to reduce crime and criminality as well as youth restiveness.

With the establishment of the proposed Greenland University, Jalingo, Taraba State will have four universities. The Federal University, Wukari, Kwararafa University, Wukari and Taraba State University in addition to the proposed Greenland University, Jalingo.
