Taraba Governor Kefas promises conducive working environment for journalists

Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has promised to provide conducive working environment for journalists in the state.
The Governor announced this during the new year dinner with journalists in Jalingo.
He encouraged them to provide accurate reports of the state to assist him in projecting policies and programmes commited in serving the people of the state deligently.
Governor Kefas also pledged to provide mobility to the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Taraba State Council, the Correspondent’s Chapel and the Association of Women Journalists as well as renovate the NUJ Press Centre.
He disclosed that his deputy Aminu Abdullahi Alkali will soon visit both the Press Centre and NTA Jalingo for assessment towards renovating them.
Governor Kefas emphasized the need to revive the use of history in schools across the State and announced new educational requirements for teachers in the State.
He said Primary School teachers must have a minimum of a degree while Secondary School teachers must posses a Master’s degree to be qualified to teach in Taraba State saying that
once accurate statistics for the schools are obtained, the Government plans to remodel all the schools in Taraba State.

Taraba State Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Barrister Zainab Usman Jalingo, appealed to Governor Kefas to look into the requests made by journalists in the state and emphasized the need for a strong cooperation between the press and the Government to achieve the set objectives of the Government as well as in promoting societal growth and development.
In his remarks, a veteran journalist and former Commissioner of Information in the state, Barrister Danjuma Adamu provided the historical evolution of the press as the Fourth Estate of the Realm and the subsequent emergence of the doctrine of separation of powers pointing out that the Government and the Press are partners in Progress and expressed the need for sustainable partnership.
He commended the Governor for his developmental strides and described him as a youthful, charming, and dynamic leader.
Adamu urged journalists to remained steadfast in their commitments to partnering with the Government for the success of the Administration of Governor Kefas and expressed optimism that with the signing of the 2024 budget into law by the Governor a lot will be done as ministries will be carrying out projects that would benefit the people of the State in line with the “Moving Forward” Agenda of the Governor.

In their Comments Chairman Nigerian Union of Journalists NUJ Taraba State Council Mathew Eliud Jen that of the Correspondent’s Chapel, Gabriel Yough,
Madam Dorcas Philemon, North-East Zonal Vice Chairperson of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ) expressed their appreciation for the unwavering commitment of the Governor to development and acknowledged his support towards all the branches of the NUJ even before he was elected Governor.
They commended the efforts of the Governor to serving the people of Taraba State and the focus of
his administration’s on improving the education sector and providing a conducive working environment for journalists which demonstrates the dedication of the Government to better the lives of its citizens.
