Taraba Governor Kefas releases another N1bn to continue payment of gratuities

In commemoration of his one year anniversary in office, Governor of Taraba State Dr. Agbu Kefas has directed for the release of another 1billion naira for continuation of the payment of gratuity to pensioners in the State.

Taraba State Commissioner of Finance, Dr. Sarah Enoch Adi who revealed this Tuesday evening in Jalingo said the Governor is committed to offsetting all the backlogs of Pensions and gratuities describing his actions as full of passion and zeal to confront the the issue squarely.

The Commissioner disclosed that this was the Second time payments of Gratuity got huge funds to settle arrears during the present Administration noting that the payments are being conducted in the most transparent manner and stressed the need for proper documentation by the handlers.

Governor kefas first released 1billion naira to kick-start the payment of gratuity after years of neglect by previous Administration and promised to release N200 millions naira every month to continue the payment and now released another 1billion naira.

The last time payments were made was in 2011 which led to accumulation of billions of naira in arrears.

Many beneficiaries said they did not believe they would live to see any payments of their gratuities and expressed gratitude and wish the Government well in all its endeavors.

They expressed happiness that the payments are coming at the time of great hardships in the Country, stressing that the gratuities are really cushioning the harsh realities in their lives.
