Taraba Information Commissioner urges journalists to desist from yellow journalism

The Taraba State Commissioner of Information and Re-orientation, Barrister Danjuma Adamu on Thursday charged journalists in the state to focus on on factual journalism rather than yellow journalism as the watch dogs of the society.
The Commissioner who was speaking when he received on a courtesy visit, the new executives of the Taraba State NUJ Correspondents’ Chapel also urged Journalists in the state to always be objective in their reportage to avoid misinforming the public.
Adamu explained that the administration of Governor Darius Ishaku is focused on people’s oriented policies and programmes despite the some distractions in some part of the state, adding that the Governor has executed a lot of developmental projects within and outside the state capital for the well-being of the people of the state.
He noted that, the numerous awards received from several media organizations in the country was a clear manifestation of good work.
The number Journalist in the state, Barr Danjuma Adamu while congratulating the new EXCO members of the Correspondents’ Chapel urged them to put behind what transfered and carry everyone along to ensuring unity and hormony among members.
He, however  solicited cooperation of the Correspondents’ in the state with a view to work together in projecting the image of the state, for the development of the state, while he promised to operate with the newly elected officials for the betterment of all.
Earlier, the newly elected Chairman, Comrade Adamu Sadiq told the commissioner that they were in his office on a courtesy visit to familiarize with the new executives of the chapel and also to establish a good working relation between the ministry and the Correspondents’ Chapel.
He said, the  newly elected officials are fully ready to partner with the present administration of Governor Darius Ishaku for the development of the state, noting that the present administration has done a lot of developmental projects across the state which requires adequate publicity.
“The Hon. Commissioner as the first Journalists in Taraba state, i want to tell you that the  present administration under Governor Darius Dickson Ishaku has achieved so many developmental projects in the state hence the nemourous awards he has received within and outside the state including even from various media organizations.
“These achievements no doubt has led to the re-election of the governor, however, these developmental projects cut across the sixteen local government areas of the state that need to be adequately reported, so we need you to provide an enabling environment for the Correspondents’ to effectively cover the entire state.”
The Chairman who described Governor Ishaku as a man of integrity, assured of the Correspondents’ chapel continue partnership with the state government toward promoting it’s good  policies and programmes.
Comrade Sadiq however, explained that the election has come and gone, therefore promised to carry everyone along for the development of not only the Correspondents’ Chapel but the entire NUJ in the state.
