The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners (NUP) in Taraba State Comrade El-Nathan Bila Auta has warned Pensioners in the State not to participate in any Election of the Union in the State pending the determination of the Judgement by the Federal Industrial Court in Yola Adamawa State coming up on November 11th, 2025.
The Chairman who gave the warning in Jalingo said the plan by the defunct Caretaker Committee to conduct Election of the Local Government branches of the Union on october 19th, 2025 where they plan to return their supporters unopposed as elected officials was not only illegal but a contempt of Court as they don’t have the right to conduct any Election while there is a pending Court case.
“No one has right t to conduct Election in Taraba State before the determination of the Court case in Yola, I
therefore advised all Pensioners in the State to stay clear with this illegal inconsistency with the grand norms of the NUP” the Chairman warned.
El-Nathan Bila Auta also condemned the undue and one sided intervention of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity in Taraba State on the lingering problems between the factions of the Union in the State.
“The undue intervention by the Controller Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity in Taraba State and his direct interfarance in the NUP is glaringly alarming, if care is not taken he will finally land himself into a deadly ditch that he might not come out” Auta noted.
He accused the Controller Abubakar Sajo of misinforming his headquarters in Abuja on the true situation of the NUP in Taraba State and for taking side with the defunct Caretaker Committee to the extend of giving them office accommodation in his office where they are holding illegal meetings against the generality of members, pointing out that the Controller cannot be a good arbiter with this kind of selfish attitude.
He advised all Government officials at the Federal and State levels who are siding illegality to off their hands and await the determination of the case between the factions of NUP in Taraba State at the Federal Industrial Court in Yola which will be the final solution to all the problems of leadership in the NUP in Taraba State.
All efforts to contact the Controller of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity in Taraba State Abubakar Sajo proved abortive as he was not on seat when our reporter visited his office while his phone was off when the reporter tried to reach him severally.
In a related development, the Executive Secretary of the Taraba State Local Government Pension Board Mr. Thomas Daniel has debunked insinuation from section of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in the State for his alleged alignment with the defunct Caretaker Committee led by Maduda Yaro and accusing him of releasing the monthly dues of the Union to the group against a court injunction stopping the Board from releasing the dues to any of the factions of the NUP because of the financial benefits he drives from the monthly dues.
Reacting to the allegations while speaking with our reporter in Jalingo, the Executive Secretary Said he recognised the Caretaker Committee and was releasing the monthly dues to them because they are the officials he made on ground when he came to office.
He said since a pending suit by the Taraba “Concerned Pensioners” against the Caretaker Committee at the Federal Industrial Court in Yola Adamawa State will be determined on November 11th, 2025 the State Local Government Pension Board is ever ready to abide by the judgement of the court and work with any of the disputing faction that wins the case.
He said he has no grudges against any Pensioner or faction of the NUP in Taraba State adding that all his actions were in accodance with the rules and regulations in which the Board was created and he is religiously abiding with.
