Taraba NUT chairman says Governor Kefas is God sent to teachers

Taraba state chairman of the Nigerian Union of teachers (NUT) Comrade Nathan Solomon has described Governor Agbu Kefas moves on education as truly God’s sent to the suffering teachers in the state.

Comrade Solomon who stated this in an interview with our correspondent in Jalingo shortly after the 6th quadrennial delegate conference of the Association of Primary School Headteachers of Nigeria (AOPSHON) said the governor deserves commendation judging by his critical steps taken in the education sector.

According to him, the recent introduction of free and compulsory education, prompt payment of salary/ pension/ arrears of teachers, implementation of 5% teacher’s salary structure (TSS) and recent meetings with principals and head teachers of primary and post primaries in the state was clear indication that the governor was not going to leave any stone unturned until his dreams of revitalization of education comes to bear.

He assured that the union is working round the clock to ensure that deduction of pension funds of retired teachers by the previous administration will soon be a thing of the past and urged them to exercise patience and continue to render positive supports to Governor Kefas policy on education to enable him succeed.

Comrade Solomon who solicited support from the governor in the areas of more renovation of structure in various schools noted that the recent increase of pupils population in the primary schools was as result of free education policy which he said was good omen for the state and expressed delight that gov. kefas will do the needful in that direction.

Also in an interview, the new elected chairman of AOSHON Taraba State Chapter, Comrade Abdullahi Hassan has promised to carry all teachers along to ensure rapid development of the union.

Hassan who stated this shortly after emerged winner in the keenly contested election told our correspondent that due process will be followed in executing the affairs of the union for positive result.

He, therefore, urged members to support him to enable him succeed, while appreciating state government, national delegates, state NUT exco and entire teachers for making the exercise a huge success.
