The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Taraba State has zoned the major positions of the party to the three senatorial districts for the smooth conduct of the forthcoming state congresses.
Governor of Taraba State Dr Agbu Kefas who attended the PDP Executive Council meeting where the decision was made, appreciated the leadership of the state PDP for working tirelessly to ensure hitch-free congresses.
The Governor thanked all SEC members of the Party for attending the meeting which is a testimony of the readiness of the party for the ward, local government and state congresses.
The Executive Council meeting went into a closed door after receiving the report of the committee earlier set up to review the zoning arrangement of positions of the party in all the senatorial zones.
A founding member of the PDP in Taraba State Ambassador Idris Waziri who briefed the Press after the meeting.
said it is a constitutional requirement for the State Executive Committee members of the Party to meet before going to congresses to discuss the modalities and how the congresses will be conducted.
He said as a result, the Party has zoned certain positions to all the three Senatorial zones in the interest of equity, fairness and justice to make sure that every zone is properly represented in all the positions at the State level.
Ambassador Waziri disclosed that the Chairmanship position has been zoned to the Central zone, the Deputy chairman to the North and the Secretary of the Party to the Southern
expressing the readiness of the Party for the forthcoming Congresses giving assurance of internal democracy in all processes.
In her remarks, a former National Women Leader of the PDP Mrs. Tina Musa said they are satisfied with all arrangements towards the Congresses
and expressed hope that the State will continue to be PDP because of the internal democracy taking place in all processes.
