Taraba stakeholders are our problem – Governor Kefas

Taraba State Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas has berated the so-called Taraba State stakeholders for being the problem of the state.

Dr. Agbu made the accusation at an interactive session with the press at Government House, Jalingo.

He blamed the stakeholders who are now making negative remarks and empty noise on all his giant strides to reposition the state.

He said they are responsible for all the challenges, woes and under-development of the state.

The Governor maintained that he started work as soon as he was elected and that was why he disappeared and started making international connections for the state even before he was sworn-in in May and so was not making empty promises as claimed by his critics.

“I started working since I was elected Governor where are the promises that they said are too much? I don’t make promises but Declaration I matched my words with actions just open your eyes and see the wanders in new Taraba State,” he said.

Governor Kefas asked “Where were they when things were going upside down when our schools were in shambles, our roads dilapidated and nothing was going well in the state where were the so-called Stakeholders then? they should first wait and see if I fail then they can criticise”.

Dr. Kefas who harped much on education said serious attention will be given to up llft the standard of education in all ramifications which is the bedrock of any development, schools will be rehabilited, enhance teachers welfare and ensure qualified teachers to provide qualitative education in all schools.

He said a biometric of the pupils and students will be conducted to acertain the exact number of students in each school for the Govermment to determine the requirement for teachers, classes, uniforms and funds for providing free Education in both Primary and Secondary Schools accross Taraba State.

The Governor noted that to fulfill his determination for qualitative Education in the State degree Will be the minimum qualification for teaching in Primary Schools while Secondary School teachers must obtain a masters’ degree.

“I will send them back to School teachers must obtain the requisite qualification to be able to impart qualitative Education to our childrent I am going to be very stubborn when it comes to Education,” the Governor reiterated.

“Every child born in Taraba State is entitled to free Education and as such even if this means to empty the Govermment House to accommodate our students we will do it, many indigenes of the State who are staying outside have big Houses here in Jalingo that they don’t even live in I can liaise with them to convert the houses into Schools I can even construct new structures in the vast lands available in the State to accommodate the growing number of enrolments in the Schools due the free Education policy of this Govermment to drastically reduce the number of out of school
children in the state”.

He said security also remained a top priority of his Govermment and very ready to address all the security challenges in the State that he is working closely with Law enforcement Agencies to ensure the safety and well being of the citizens.

Governor Kefas stated that he suspended all mining activities in the State to mitigate the degradetion effects of the land for environmental preservation and community well being expressing his commitment for effective Health care drlivery by providing access and facilities accross the State to ensure that no one has to travel far for quality health care.

On tourism, the Governor pointed out that Taraba State remained potential for investment.
“We are eager to open our doors for both Local and international investment our vision is Taraba State becoming a World Tourism Center with vast opportunities for growth and and development and we are working very hard,” he said.

He said as basic infrastructural development is key for growth his administration is determined in enhancing roads, electricity and other infrastructural facilities to make life better for the cituzens assuring that inspite of all daunting challenges he is committed to fulfill all his promises to the people.

“I am committed to transparency and accoutabilty and will ensure that Tarabans have a say in their Governance through Local Government Election we will select credible and dependable persons to bring forth for Governance at the Grassroots I promised to do all it takes as a Government for the progress and prosperity of Taraba State.

“The progress of Taraba State is a collective responsibility, together we will overcome all challenges and build a prosperous State for the citizens” Dr. Kefas said.

Governor Kefas promised to open a palliative market where everything will be sold at subsidized rate to cushion the hardship of the people but however said that the Government will not do everything for people saying that parents have the duty of cartaring for their families.
