Taraba Tribunal affirms Governor Kefas election, dismisses NNPP petition for lack of merit

The election petition tribunal sitting in Jalingo Saturday affirmed Dr. Agbu Kefas election of March, 16th 2023 as duly elected Governor of Taraba State, and dismissed the NNPP governorship petition by Prof. Sani Yahaya petition for lack merit.
Delivering judgement, the chairman of the tribunal Justice G.A. Sunmonu, while ruling on the petition filed by Prof. Sani Yahaya governorship candidate in the March 2023 governorship election, said the petition challenged the election of Dr. Kefas lacks merit.
Justice Sunmonu ruling on the petition was supported by the other judges in the tribunal Justice U.Onwosi and Khadi M.N Sidi.
Speaking shortly after the judgement, the state deputy governor Alhaji Aminu Alkali described the outcome of the exercise as a welcome development.
He commended judiciary for professionalism, pointing out that it is the last hope of the common masses.
Aminu Alkali called on NNPP Governorship candidate Prof. Yahaya and supporters to join hands with PDP administration in the state to move Taraba forward, even as he said Governor Kefas administration is ready to partner with all meaning Tarabans to move the state to an enviable heights.
Also speaking, counsel to Governor Kefas, Barrister Sam Adda said the judgement was a straight forward one, considering the fact that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) did not win majority vote at the local government areas of the state, saying claims and the counter claims allegation of the NNPP has come to end.
Barrister Adda however, enjoined the party and its flag bearer Prof. Yahaya to put behind them the 2023 governorship election and work with the PDP government for the overall development of the State.
Meanwhile, counsel to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Bar. Emeka Okoro as well as other lead counsels of PDP and NNPP expressed their separate views during interviews with newsmen.
