A newly recruited soldier, Dauda Dedan who recently passed out from the Military Recruitment Training Depot is being accused of stabbing Constable Aaron John of the Taraba State Police Command to death in Jalingo.
Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Taraba Police Command, James Lashen who confirmed this to journalists, said the incidence happened at 9:00 pm on Monday at Mayo-Goi, a suburb of Jalingo, Taraba State Capital.
The PPRO explained that the death of late Constable over a misunderstanding between the duo which resulted to the stabbing of the police officer by the soldier was alerted the residents of the area.
Lashen said the soldier was at large but the army had already commenced investigation into the matter assuring the police of tracking down the suspect to face the full wrath of the law.
He said the 6 Brigade headquarters of the Nigerian Army in Jalingo has given full assurances of tracking the fugitive soldier to face the full wrath of the law.
“Both the Army and Police are working hand in hand, they have been to the house of the soldier and would ensure he is arrested and brought to book accordingly,” the PPRO said.
He described the relationship between the two security agencies as very cordial.
