Ter Tiv FCT Abuja, calls for unity, renewal in 2026

His Royal Highness, Joseph Iyorliam Aneh, the Ter Tiv Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja, has described the year 2026 as a period of renewal, collective responsibility and strengthened unity for the Tiv people residing in the Federal Capital Territory and beyond.
In his New Year goodwill message addressed to sons and daughters of the Tiv community in Abuja, the royal father warmly welcomed the people into the new year, extending heartfelt wishes to families across the FCT.
He emphasized that the new year presents a valuable opportunity for renewed purpose, fresh perspectives and deeper commitment to the shared responsibilities of the Tiv ethnic nationality within the Nigerian federation.
According to Amb. Dr. Godwin Iorsheregh Nyitse, Chief Press Secretary to the Ter Tiv FCT Abuja, HRH Aneh commended members of the Tiv Traditional Council FCT Abuja, his cabinet, the Mdzough U Tiv, and various professional and socio-cultural associations for their resilience, dedication and professionalism in advancing the mandate of the Tiv Traditional Council and promoting the progress of the Tiv nation. According to him, their unwavering efforts remain central to the development, unity and stability of the Tiv people in the FCT.
The monarch noted that 2026 also marks a significant transition in his leadership journey as he prepares to officially assume full responsibilities as the Ter Tiv FCT Abuja.
He called on the Tiv community to work together with a shared vision and common goal, stressing that he accepted the leadership role with profound gratitude and a deep sense of service to the people.
Expressing confidence in the capacity of Tiv chiefs and traditional rulers across the area councils, wards and the 885 villages within the FCT, HRH Aneh assured that existing structures and stakeholders would continue to sustain and build upon the strong foundation laid over the years.
The Ter Tiv FCT Abuja also expressed profound appreciation to the host community, particularly the FCT Traditional Council of Chiefs and Traditional Rulers, led by His Royal Majesty, Alhaji Dr. Baba Yunusa Ugbada, CON, the Ona of Abaji, for their warmth, hospitality and peaceful coexistence extended to the Tiv people since 1981.
He further acknowledged the contributions and support of illustrious Tiv sons and daughters in Abuja, including Senator George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, alongside other notable leaders. Special recognition was also given to Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, the Governor of Benue State, members of his cabinet, and the 10th Benue State House of Assembly for their continued support.
On behalf of the Tiv people in the FCT, HRH Aneh extended warm greetings to the paramount ruler of the Tiv nation, His Royal Majesty, Orchivirigh Professor James Ortese Iorzua Ayatse, Tor Tiv V, as well as members of the Tiv Traditional Council in Benue State.
As the year unfolds, the Ter Tiv FCT Abuja urged the Tiv community to remain focused, united and steadfast in the pursuit of excellence, expressing optimism that the Tiv Traditional Council FCT Abuja would continue to uphold the values of integrity, innovation, service to humanity and progressive leadership.
He concluded by praying for good health, peace, professional fulfillment and success for all Tiv people in 2026, wishing everyone a prosperous and peaceful New Year.
