Barely some weeks to the March 11 gubernatorial election, three local government coordinators of the candidate of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. David Ombugadu, have defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Ombugadu coordinators in Awe, Lafia and Karu Local Government Areas, were received into the APC by Nasarawa State Governor, Engineer Abdullahi Sule, at the Government House, on Wednesday.

Announcing their defection, the Ombugadu Coordinator from Karu Local Government Area, said they were leaving the PDP because they have been neglected and are not being carried along by the governorship candidate.

The Karu Ombugadu coordinator said they were part of the political structure of the PDP guber candidate since the era of the G-5 and having worked hard to project Ombugadu’s candidature both in 2019 and now, they realized they may fail to achieve their political objectives with the PDP governotorial candidate, hence their decision to leave him and join the APC.

They accuses Ombugadu of neglecting them as he failed to carry them along, even with the election fast approaching.

Receiving the defectors shortly after a meeting involving the state working committee of the APC, chairmen of local government areas, as well as A. A. Sule local government coordinators, Engineer Sule welcomed the defectors into the APC, promising to carry them along in the activities of the party leading to the election.

Engineer Sule assured them that the APC is poised to sweep the presidential, governorship, national and state assemblies election.

The Governor thereafter presented the defectors with brooms, signifying their membership of the APC.
