Understand reasons for fuel subsidy removal – Bauchi Governor, Mohammed pleads with organized labour, charges newly sworn in LG chairmen to support palliatives distribution

Bauchi State Governor, Sen Bala Mohammed Abdulkadir has pleaded with the organized Labour in the country to understand and bear with government the removal of the fuel subsidy. 

The Governor stressed that the action taken by the government is in the best interest of the generality of Nigerians as well as economic growth assuring that the present hardship will not be for a long time. 

According to him, officials and members of the Organized Labour should reasoned with the Federal Government’s decision in view of the nation’s economic situation assuring that Governors are also committed in protecting the interest of Nigerians at the national level.

Bal Mohammed was speaking on Wednesday at the Multipurpose Indoor Sports Hall, bauchi during the swearing in ceremony of 20 Caretaker Chairmen and their Deputies for the 20 LGAs in the state. 

The oaths of allegiance and office were administered on the Caretaker r Committee Chairmen by the State Chief Judge, Justice Rabi Talatu Umar. 

The Governor called on the Caretaker Chairmen to come up with initiatives that would facilitate judicious distribution of the proposed parlliative by Federal Government at the local levels.

Bala Mohammed said the appointment of the Caretaker Chairmen came at a time Nigerians are experiencing hardship charging them to support any move aimed at cushioning the negative effects of the fuel subsidy removal.

On the issue of security, the Governor directed the Chairmen to collaborate with security agencies, vigilante groups, religious and community leaders in addressing various forms of crime and criminality.

Speaking on behalf of the appointees, the Caretaker Chairman of Giade Local Government, Alhaji Usman Mohammed Saleh expressed appreciation for their appointment. 

He promised that they will live up to their responsibilities and will always act in support of the administration to develop the rural population.

Usman Saleh however called for the support and cooperation of all relevant stakeholders to enable them succeed in the onerous task bestowed on them.
