A vegan who is also an animal rights campaigner, Mrs Joy Mong has seriously frowned at the wanton killings of animals for foods in Nigeria and other countries, saying their consumption is a major health issues.

She warned seriously that consumption of animals contributes much to sicknesses and other health ailments plaguing man.

In an interview, Mong posited that most of the heart, lung,  liver and other diseases people suffer are as a result of consuming animal byproducts, fish or such sea-based foods which often are contaminated by chemicals or what they, too, consumed.

She said that she and family members have been vegans for several years and have never visited pharmacists or slept in the hospitals.

According to her, vegans or even vegetarians are healthier than people who consumed meats and their byproducts and do live longer.

Pushing her advocacy, the animal rights campaigner disclosed that animals have right to life, adding that originally God never intended for man to kill them for foods, which reason He only authorized man to eat only plant based foods, seeds, fruits and vegetables.

“Killing animals for foods is criminal and against the Creator’s divine mandate.

“Nature has given plants, seeds, grains, fruits, and vegetables for foods, not animals.

“When you rely only on meatless meals, plant-based foods you experience no sickness of any kinds because these come with curative properties. You won’t have any reasons to visit the doctors because plant-based foods repair the body, cleanse the blood system and nourishes you compares with meats, birds, fishes which damage critical  body organs. Everyone should be very consciousl of what they consume.”

According to Mong, eating seeds and plants leads to higher fiber, antioxidant, and nutrient-rich diets when balanced properly

“Well-planned vegan diets reduce risks of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, hypertension, certain cancers and Blood pressure.

“Veganism offers numerous benefits to society, spanning from environmental, health, economic, and ethical dimensions.

“Meatless meals lowers chronic disease risk, lowers healthcare costs by preventing diet-related diseases, which could save billions of Naira in medical expenses,” she said.
