Victim Support Fund provides support to disaster victims across Nigeria

The Victim Support Fund (VSF) a NGO established to support victims of various disasters in the country has so far given relief support to many Nigerians across the country with various items worth not less than N3b.
The support program which was done in 3 phases under the VSF COVID-19 Emergency Intervention Program involved the distribution of food, medical consumables and personal protective equipment (PPEs) to 19 states across the 6 geopolitical zones of the country.
The implementation of the program also involved the provision and support to the National Council of Women Societies (NCWS), National Commission for Refugees, Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI), Federal Ministry of Health and the Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC).
This was disclosed by the Chairperson, Victims Support Fund Taskforce on COVID-19, Mrs Toyosi Akerele – Ogunsiji while briefing Bauchi State Commissioner of Education, Dr Aliyu Tilde in his office on Wednesday during a Courtesy visit to the Ministry.
Toyosi Akerele – Ogunsiji explained that the VSF which is a registered NGO in the country under the leadership of TY Danjuma is saddled with the responsibility of giving succor to victims of any disaster in the country stressing that it is humanitarian venture.
The Chairperson said that though the support cannot get to everybody in the country, it is doing everything possible to make sure that majority of the disaster victims got the support needed in order to ameliorate their sufferings.
She further assured that the VSF will continue to strive to ensure that no matter how small it is, palliative measures will be extended to the victims in every corners of the country.
In his response, Bauchi State Commissioner of Education, Dr Aliyu Tilde thanked the VSF for its intervention in the state particularly in the education sector saying that the state government is ready to contribute to the fund.
The Commissioner said that the state government has being embarking on programs that are aimed at improving the standard of education in the state stressing that the aim is to bring back the good old days of standardized education.
Aliyu Tilde then assured that his ministry will ensure that every item donated by the VSF in the state will be put to good use and properly maintained.
