Immediate past Speaker of the House of Representatives, Barrister Yakubu Dogara has declared that people like him who have stakes in the Nigeria project cannot just look away and watch things deteriorate to a point of return.

He therefore urged Nigerians not to despair but have faith in Nigeria expressing confidence that, “our challenges as a nation will become history soon.”

Dogara, who is also the Chancellor of Achievers University, Owo, Ondo State, spoke on Saturday, December 10, 2022, at the 12th Convocation ceremony of the University.

According to him, “This event is happening at a time Nigeria is getting ready for another round of elections. We cannot look away as stakeholders in the Nigeria project, it is therefore imperative that we have a voice in moving the Nation forward.”

The former Speaker added that,”I wish to strongly appeal to you and other Nigerians to have faith in Nigeria. Whatever challenges we are facing today shall definitely become history.”

He stressed that, “Other great Nations of the world today had passed through their moments of great difficulty and challenges too. No difficulty can be compared with a War situation. I am glad we survived the civil war and here we are as a Nation.”

“This period will soon pass away and we shall come out stronger. Belive me, after years of labour in Egypt, there is a land flowing with milk and honey that has been prepared for us but we won’t get there until we have crossed the red sea, river Jordan and survived the desert. The desert years may stagnate but I assure you, they shall come to an end one day as sudden as the dawn appears,” he concluded .
