The Police in Cross River State have disclosed that in five months they have been able to seize 520 cards of tramadol from addicts and peddlers.

Tramadol is one of the drugs that have been banned in Nigeria.

Commissioner of police in the state, CP Rashid Afegbua disclosed further that 284 cartridges of bullets were also recovered from suspected criminals during the period.

The CP was giving accounts if his stewardship from July to November 2025, stating that
his approach to policing in the has been guided by three core principles, such as visible presence, intelligence-led operations, and partnership-driven policing.

He said, “Vehicle and properties were also recovered, but they have been released to their owners on bound.’

Afegbua listed further that arms and ammunition were also recovered, including one Automatic English Pump Action, six locally fabricated long guns and two machetes.

He explained that the state Command has been collaborating to create a safe, stable, and law-abiding Cross River where criminal elements are denied the space to operate, and citizens feel protected, not just policed.

Afegbua said when he resumed on 7th July 2025, his men disrupted criminal networks through targeted intelligence-led operations.

“There has been increased police presence and response capacity in urban, rural, and border communities via visibility policing. We have restored trust and accountability in police-community relations; strengthened inter-agency collaboration to ensure coordinated security efforts.”

During the five months, he said his focus was on:
Murder, Armed robbery, kidnapping, and cultism as identified in hotspots.

“We’ve charged 147 cases to court between July and November 2025. 25 cases were conclusively prosecuted while nine cases were convicted. 113 cases were pending.”
