The Chief of Army Staff, Lt-General Tukur Buratai says improving the welfare and well-being of troops is one of the priorities of his administration.
The Army Chief disclosed this Friday in Bauchi while commissioning the newly constructed Soldiers Accommodation and newly constructed Warrant Officers and Sergeants Mess at the Nigerian Army Armour Corps and 33 Artillery Brigade.
General Tukur Buratai said already various projects are ongoing in Barracks across the country beneficial to Officers and Men of the Force aimed at enhancing and boosting their morale.
The Chief of Army Staff who noted that, much has been done to ensure conducive environment at the barracks in spite of the limited resources in the Institution, charged the beneficiaries to ensure maintenance of the accommodation considering the huge amount expended on the projects.
General Tukur Buratai therefore called on Officers and Men of the Army to remain loyal by collaborating with other Security Agencies for the security of the country.
The Commander Armoured Corps, Bauchi, Major-General James Olubumi Akomoleke said the facilities commissioned are part of the tremendous efforts of the Chief of Army Staff in transforming the Nigerian Army and improving the welfare of personnel both in the field and in the Barracks.
The Commander, 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi, Brigadier-General M T Durowaiye remarked that the ceremony is in line with the Army Chief vision to have Professionally responsive Nigerian Army in the discharge of its constitutional duties.
Brigadier General Durowaiye said with ongoing modernization and expansion for the upgrading of some sub-units to regiment status, it has alleviated the sufferings of soldiers especially inadequate toilet facilities and poor state rooms among others.
