By Ben Adaji, Jalingo
Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday said that the nation is very proud of Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas for his sense of inclusivity and development drive.
Shettima said this during the official defection of the Governor to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Jalingo.
He said that the APC is built as a meeting point and it is a thing of joy that Governor Kefas has taken the initiative to join the fold.
“We believe that nations endure when they learn to acknowledge their strength. We acknowledge that Taraba State is an integral part of the nation with enormous potentials for the National Development.
“The APC was built as a meeting point for development minded people. Today, it is a thing of pride that Taraba has joined this fold. We hope that Adamawa and Bauchi will follow soon. We welcome our brother home because he has always been with us.
“We are very proud of Governor Agbu Kefas for his sense of inclusivity and development.
“He shows clear understanding of the diversity of Taraba State and is working hard to ensure that the State remains a United despite the differences.
“I urge you to rally round the governor to bring development to the State” he said while emphasising that the Governor is automatically the incontestable leader of the party in the State,” Shettima said.
The National Chairman of the APC, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda in his remarks said that “joining the APC is the best thing that the governor has done for Taraba State, because Taraba State is richly endowed and this alignment will help to realise the full potentials of the State.
“Both old and new members have equal rights and equal opportunities. We stand for unity and expect you the leader of the party to unite everyone into one indivisible and indestructible party,” he noted.
Taraba State Governor, Dr. Kefas commended the leadership of the nation and the party while assuring the people of Taraba State that his movement into the APC is for their good.
“We would not dwell on the past but will work to redefine the future that we all desire for ourselves and our children and generations to come.
“Note that this is a mission and not ambition. This move is for you the people of Taraba State. We must align to deliver development to the people. I will not abandon our mandate. Rather, I will strengthen it and ensure that I’m fair to everyone.
“In President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I see a man who understands leadership and knows how to get things done and done correctly.
“Taraba State is open for development. We did not shift for power but for purpose and that purpose is to bring transformative development that will make life a lot better for our people,” Governor Kefas noted.
