Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi on Sunday broke the two seasons home unbeaten record jinx against Plateau United FC in the Nigeria Professional Football League as the Tourists meted a 2-1 defeat on the visitors on match day 8 of the ongoing npfl 21/22 season played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium Bauchi.
23  Minutes into the game, Plateau United opened scores through an own goal by the Wikki Tourists defence from a free kick.
Just a minute after, Wikki Tourists equalized when Fuad Ekelojuoti got the goal for the home team sending the Stadium into rapturous jubilation.
There were attacks and counter attacks as both teams struggled to get a lead till the first half ended 1-1.
On resumption for the second half, some changes were made by both teams but Wikki’s change seemed to be more effective when in the 64th minutes, Substitute Anas Yusuf found the back of plateau’s net for the second wikki goal.
Efforts by both teams to either increase the tally or equalize were not fruitful until the blow of the final whistle at 90+4′ by Referee Marwan.
Coach Kabiru Dogo in a post match interview expressed gratitude to God for the Victory saying, “We dedicate the win to Almighty Allah who destined that we are going to win today” .
On his plans for the next home game against Nasarawa United on Sunday, 30/1/2022, Dogo stated that it is also a big match but added that the God that gave us today will do it again for us.
The Wikki Tourists gaffer who noticed with pleasure improvement in the league Commended the League Management Company urging them to do more.
This is the first time in three seasons that WIkki Tourists recorded a convincing home win against Plateau United. The last two seasons at home has been draw and loss.
