By Akanji Alowolodu, Bauchi
Two first half goals from Taiye Murtala and Prince John in the 8th and 27th minutes were enough to give Wikki Tourists FC a convincing victory over Akwa United on Match day 36 of the ongoing #npfl22 Season match number 356 in Bauchi.
During the match played inside the main bowl of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi on Sunday, the two goals were as a result of frantic efforts by the Kaura Boys to ensure they moved upward on the table ladder as the league gradually comes to an end with most Clubs trying to avoid making mistakes.
Taiye Murtala got the first goal for the home team when he headed in from a free kick by Sunday Haruna.
The opening goal became a morale booster for his teammates who kept mounting pressure on the visitors and their efforts paid off in the 27th minutes when Prince John capitalized on an assist by Fu’ad Ekelejuoti to comfortably put Wikki on the driving seat till end of first half.
The second half was more or less a dull game as both teams played cautiously.
Substitutions were made by both teams right from the first half while the result of the game remained the same with Wikki Tourists maintaining the 2-0 lead to the close of the game at 90’+3′.
In a post Match Interview, WIkki Tourists Chief Coach, Abdullahi Adamu said that the three points was what they prayed for and expressed gratitude to God for answering their prayers.
